Bedroom flip-a-roo

Two posts in one week? Who am I? haha. This rarely happens anymore. But hey, here I am anyway! Earlier this week I got a fire under my ass and decided to rearrange my bedroom... again. But this time I really dove in head first. It took a whole day to get everything done, which I didn't mind since Gracie was with my parents for the day to go swimming. If you wanna see what the bedroom looked like before the big switch, you can see those here.

I knew right from the beginning that I wanted to move our Ikea PAX closets to a different place in the room. I made several drawn by hand maps of where to put them but nothing was working. Then finally it hit me and I was like a tornado taking everything out of my bedroom. I put everything in the kitchen (mattress, end tables, clothes, dresser, etc) for easy moving in the bedroom.

Of course, Max took it upon himself to sleep on top of the mattress the minute I put it out there.

And now pictures of my bedroom...

During the spring & summer months, my usual black & white fancy comforter is waaay too heavy so I put on our old pink one. The pink & green remind me of a watermelon, which then reminds me of summer. It's a win, win. I have plans on getting a new comforter, a green, white & grey one from Target but yanno, don't have the extra funds at the moment, but in time, we'll get it!

See. I moved the Pax closets to the opposite side of the room. In front of the window. Putting them in front of the window is no big deal since the view out that window is just a fence. No biggie!

My vanity is on the left side of the closets...

Paul's dresser is on the right side, next to his side of the closet.

This is toward my side of the bed.

The TV is actually not in a bad spot. We can still watch tv from where the bed is now.

And this is the view from across the bed. Yes, we neeeeed to have a fan going at night. The mix of the sound & cool air helps us sleep like babies.

Here is another shot of the bed with the lamp lights turned on.

And of the closet area.

Here is a close up of the area above the headboard... my favorite part!

We both love the room so much like this. We actually have what seems like lots more room to walk around, fold clothes, do a little happy dance, whatever. ;)

Have you rearranged a room recently? Did it take you a whole day too? Feel free to share the deets. ;)

so fresh & so clean

Yesterday I finally decided it was time to clean & rearrange the living room. Everything had been in the same spot since I painted, added molding around the windows & bought all brand new everything from Ikea, two months ago. So, it was definitely due. I'm one of those I have to rearrange a room after a certain period of time or I go crazy people. I get it from my mother. But, I'm sure you can tell by all of my rearranging posts, ie: Gracie's room & my bedroom.

I moved the sofa to the window side of the room, flipped the rug (because I think it looks better this way) & swapped the sofa table for the stand that was under the tv before. Both Paul & I like it so much more this way! I don't know why I was so worried I wouldn't.

Can you tell which movie I was watching when I took these pictures? Winner gets a prize. ;)

I didn't really do anything to the dining area, just cleaned it up & added a couple things to the shelves. No big deal.

Check out the view from the door. Since I moved the big Yankee boys art to my bedroom, I had a big blank spot on this wall. The bookshelf & dvd shelf definitely get rid of any awkward open spaces. I like it! I still have plans on painting the dvd shelf black, sometime in the future. It used to belong to my grandmother, I believe.

I got a pretty fun idea last night while Paul & I were watching Midnight in Paris (great movie! Check it out!). I thought it would be fun for you guys to see my point of view. So, as I sat in my usual spot on the sofa, in the corner, I took a couple pictures of my view. :)

Hi Niko!

Wide shot. See that bag? My E.A.T letters are in the bag. A project for the kitchen! You'll see those soon!

And a creeper shot of hubs on the laptop, sitting next to me. He said I couldn't take a full picture of him, so you get his hands... his beautiful hands. hahhhaha He's playing The Sims Social, our favorite Facebook game. :)

Welp. That's it for today. I'll be back tomorrow with my BIRTHDAY POST! I'll be 27 tomorrow! I'll also have pictures of my new haircut. :) Oh yeah, I put up a new layout on Friday night. Whatcha think?

paint it pink!

Over the weekend, I decided I wanted to give Gracie's room the old moving things around treatment like I did with my bedroom. Her Tv has been in the same spot for a year which meant I could really only move her bed to a couple spots so that she could still see it, so I decided to move that too. You can check out the way her room used to look, before you see how it is now. I actually like it a lot more this way. It seems to really fit better this way & she has lots of room to twirl in her Princess dresses when she plays dress-up. That definitely makes her a happy camper!

Yeah, still haven't gotten a new curtain rod yet. It's on the to-do list tho! We also removed her Princess barbie castle from her room because it was just a giant mess in there. So we moved it to her play house outside. She likes it better there anyway!

I put little hooks in her wall for her to be able to hang her Princess dresses. She has a bunch! It fits well under her Princess poster.

This wall is at the foot of her bed. The pink curtains really make it feel more girly in there.

This wall, we decided we're going to paint pink. A lighter pink then the pink we painted her door with today... Another Saturday project!

So anyway. Today we painted the back of her bedroom door hot pink! It's so cute. She's been asking me for oh.. a year to paint her door pink. It was the only spot in the room that I didn't paint after I painted the room green, a year ago. I thought we might get all new interior doors within the last year but yeah didn't happen. Not that it was that important anyway. Her door is fine.

Here is the newly painted pink door. Gracie helped too! I still need to do some touch ups on the molding with white paint. I'll probably do that Saturday after I paint her wall pink.

So yes, now I have a task for the weekend... already! lol. Gotta paint her closet wall pink! I actually just used pink I had laying around from years ago, but didn't have a lot of the darker (hot) pink, so I mixed a bunch of light pink with it and came up with this lighter easier on the eyes pink for the wall. I couldn't imagine that HOT pink on a wall. A WHOLE WALL. No way! hahahaha. It's fine for the back of a door tho. haha.

In other news, I got some pretty exciting news today! I'll share it when I know more. Until then, thanks for stopping by! :)

kids rooms

This past week I got busy cleaning the kids rooms and did some rearranging. I didn't take before pictures only because it was such an awful mess & no one should have to see that. ha! Anyway, first up... Gracie's room!

Gracie's wall half way up and entire floor is all chalkboard paint. As you can see, she draws everywhere! When I originally cleaned her room, the floor had no chalk on it, but a day went by before I took these pictures and she went crazy with the chalk. My little artist! (I wrote the 'Gracie is 4!' for her birthday back in Nov., it's still there because she likes it so much.) There also used to be a curtain rod on that window. She ripped it down. Little stinker. I gotta buy a new one still.

Gracie's room was originally the master bedroom, but we put her in there and remodeled Jordan's old room and turned it into the master bedroom, removing a wall and adding a bathroom. We figure if we ever have another child, Gracie can share her BIG ROOM with the new baby. If that ever actually happens!

Up next.. Jordan's room!

Jordan's room used to be Gracie's room. As you can see, this room has a door that leads to the backyard. I didn't like that at all, with Gracie being so young. I'm sure when Jordan hits his teenage days, I'll regret giving that room to him. ha!

Don't mind the huge amount of laundry in his closet. These images are real life! No staging going on in this house. ;)

Close up of his wall decal that I got on Etsy. He loves it & honestly, so do I!

Well, that's it. I also added these two rooms to the house tour! I'm such a slacker.
