Good times.

This past weekend was quite the fun yet full of DIY. My darling niece/bestie Taylor came and spent 4 days with me and while she was here we worked on Gracie's new big girl room. Taylor and I are such a great team when it comes to DIY, well technically we make a great team in life, but yanno. Best friends. Anyway, we painted, built furniture, played with decor and laughed and joked the whole weekend. I adore having her here! Check out Gracie's room. Keep in mind, we are waiting for Gracie's new floor to get here from Lumber Liquidators, probably a couple weeks till that's here and then we'll be putting that in.

The lighting in these pictures is pretty terrible. I guess it was just the time of day I took the pictures.

This is the view when you walk into her room, from the hallway.

This corner bookshelf was originally white, but I spruced it up and painted it coral and baby pink. It turned out great! The art on either side of the shelf was printed and 3 out of the 4 were hand painted. Taylor did one and I did three. I'll take close ups of those for my next post.

Close up of the dresser. It was originally an old wood looking dresser that we got for free, like the bookshelf. But I knew right from the beginning that I wanted to paint it ombre. I love how it turned out!

The decor above Gracie's bed is probably my favorite part. Here she is enjoying her new room! :)

Aaand that's it! We're currently getting the front of the house repairs underway, by the end of the week fancy new pergola will be going up. I'm so excited! Ahh, the joys of being a homeowner. ;)

paint it pink!

Over the weekend, I decided I wanted to give Gracie's room the old moving things around treatment like I did with my bedroom. Her Tv has been in the same spot for a year which meant I could really only move her bed to a couple spots so that she could still see it, so I decided to move that too. You can check out the way her room used to look, before you see how it is now. I actually like it a lot more this way. It seems to really fit better this way & she has lots of room to twirl in her Princess dresses when she plays dress-up. That definitely makes her a happy camper!

Yeah, still haven't gotten a new curtain rod yet. It's on the to-do list tho! We also removed her Princess barbie castle from her room because it was just a giant mess in there. So we moved it to her play house outside. She likes it better there anyway!

I put little hooks in her wall for her to be able to hang her Princess dresses. She has a bunch! It fits well under her Princess poster.

This wall is at the foot of her bed. The pink curtains really make it feel more girly in there.

This wall, we decided we're going to paint pink. A lighter pink then the pink we painted her door with today... Another Saturday project!

So anyway. Today we painted the back of her bedroom door hot pink! It's so cute. She's been asking me for oh.. a year to paint her door pink. It was the only spot in the room that I didn't paint after I painted the room green, a year ago. I thought we might get all new interior doors within the last year but yeah didn't happen. Not that it was that important anyway. Her door is fine.

Here is the newly painted pink door. Gracie helped too! I still need to do some touch ups on the molding with white paint. I'll probably do that Saturday after I paint her wall pink.

So yes, now I have a task for the weekend... already! lol. Gotta paint her closet wall pink! I actually just used pink I had laying around from years ago, but didn't have a lot of the darker (hot) pink, so I mixed a bunch of light pink with it and came up with this lighter easier on the eyes pink for the wall. I couldn't imagine that HOT pink on a wall. A WHOLE WALL. No way! hahahaha. It's fine for the back of a door tho. haha.

In other news, I got some pretty exciting news today! I'll share it when I know more. Until then, thanks for stopping by! :)

rude people

Today started off pretty good. We slept in, since the kids spend the weekends with their grandmothers (Gracie with my mom & Jordan with his birth mother's mom). We got up, went thrifting & then out for brunch. Paul had to find a pair of dress shoes because tonight he has a work dinner at some fancy smancy steak restaurant with his co-workers. He actually wound up finding a pretty nice pair, and only for about 8 bucks, regularly $50.

After that we headed out to get food. I'm wearing a Yankees t today. When we opened the door to the restaurant, some older lady gives me a dirty look and goes, 'ugh, Yankees.' I yelled back, 'yeah, I'm from Jersey.' She gave me a nasty look and another, 'ugh.' and walked out. What is it with people? Just because you don't like my team doesn't make it right for you to shit talk me for no god damn reason. After she left I had a million witty come backs I wanted to say to her, for example, 'ugh. your face.' But alas, isn't that how it always is? You always think of something clever to say after the fact?! Idiots.

Paul left about 20 minutes ago for his work dinner, so now Gracie & I are in the backyard. She's digging in dirt and well, I'm updating.

Next weekend we're planning a big family trip to the Zoo and Aquarium. Saturday is the Zoo trip and Sunday is the Aquarium. The kids & I will be hitting up the Zoo without Paul since he has to work. Sunday after the Aquarium we're gonna stop by Ikea for some goodies for the mama, because damn it I need some retail therapy! The main reason for our Ikea trip is to find out how much it's gonna cost to have our new sofa delivered. I'm hoping it's not an arm and a leg. I need my limbs. ;P

kids rooms

This past week I got busy cleaning the kids rooms and did some rearranging. I didn't take before pictures only because it was such an awful mess & no one should have to see that. ha! Anyway, first up... Gracie's room!

Gracie's wall half way up and entire floor is all chalkboard paint. As you can see, she draws everywhere! When I originally cleaned her room, the floor had no chalk on it, but a day went by before I took these pictures and she went crazy with the chalk. My little artist! (I wrote the 'Gracie is 4!' for her birthday back in Nov., it's still there because she likes it so much.) There also used to be a curtain rod on that window. She ripped it down. Little stinker. I gotta buy a new one still.

Gracie's room was originally the master bedroom, but we put her in there and remodeled Jordan's old room and turned it into the master bedroom, removing a wall and adding a bathroom. We figure if we ever have another child, Gracie can share her BIG ROOM with the new baby. If that ever actually happens!

Up next.. Jordan's room!

Jordan's room used to be Gracie's room. As you can see, this room has a door that leads to the backyard. I didn't like that at all, with Gracie being so young. I'm sure when Jordan hits his teenage days, I'll regret giving that room to him. ha!

Don't mind the huge amount of laundry in his closet. These images are real life! No staging going on in this house. ;)

Close up of his wall decal that I got on Etsy. He loves it & honestly, so do I!

Well, that's it. I also added these two rooms to the house tour! I'm such a slacker.
